A woman is charged with shooting a man outside a Brooklyn Center apartment building Monday morning.
Simoreaa Mercedes Garrett, 22, is charged with first degree assault and second degree assault.
Police said she and a friend,
Siearre Jashea Smith, 19, were arguing with another woman outside the
Northbrook apartments located on 6037 Brooklyn Boulevard.
That fight broke up, but then Garrett and Smith returned later and started to argue again with the woman.
The boyfriend of the individual women tried to intervene but was jumped by a man and then allegedly shot by Garrett in the scuffle.
A witness at the scene said he heard a man say, ''No! Don't shoot him! We just gonna jump him! No, no, baby! We gonna jump him!"
The man who was shot was taken to North Memorial Medical Center and should recover.
Garrett turned herself into the
Hennepin County Sheriffs Office on Tuesday. She told police her phone number, which matched the cell phone found at the scene of the crime. Garrett told police that she lost the phone on the day of the crime at the BP Gas Station across the street.
Smith was also arrested that day, but was released from custody. Charges against her may be filed at a later date.
