Woman Killed In 'Probable Homicide' In St. Paul

ST. PAUL (WCCO) ― St. Paul Police are investigating what they think was a likely homicide late Monday evening.

Police said they have a suspect in the death of a woman on the 1000 block of Barclay Street. The suspect referred to the victim as his wife, 67-year-old Jean Andrine Wassenaar.

She was found unconscious on the floor of a residence at about 9:30 p.m. Police and paramedics responded, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the man they consider a suspect in Wassenaar's death was despondent and was taken to Regions Hospital for evaluation.

Police said the cause of the woman's death has yet to be determined. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy later Tuesday.
