MPD Chief's Brother Skips Hearing, Is Rearrested

ST. PAUL (WCCO) ― The brother of Minneapolis Police Chief Tim Dolan, Paul, 53, has been rearrested after he skipped a pretrial hearing on charges of selling and smoking methamphetamine and marijuana while working as a U.S. Postal Service carrier.

An arrest warrant was issued for the Paul Dolan, who is now back in Hennepin County Jail. He reportedly missed a pretrial evidentiary hearing scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

He was arrested by the Drug Enforcement Administration in July. An informant tipped police off to Paul Dolan's alleged drug transactions.

Following the arrest, police searched Paul Dolan's home and found a number of marijuana plants.

At the time of the arrest, Tim Dolan called the incident "unfortunate" and added, "Our family is concerned about Paul, and if methamphetamine use is involved, it is a very serious problem." Tim Dolan said his brother has had a history of drug problems.

Paul Dolan has been charged with two separate felonies -- fifth-degree possession of methamphetamine and fifth-degree sale of marijuana.
