A woman was found shot to death in a North Minneapolis home late Saturday afternoon.
Police were called to 1110 18th Avenue North. The woman's body was inside the home.
Police said someone called 911 shortly before 4:30 Saturday afternoon saying a woman had been shot. They couldn't say whether the call came from inside the home or if the victim lived there.
Officers discovered the victim dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Her name has not yet been released.
Police haven't said whether there was anyone else in the home at the time of the shooting.
WCCO found records showing the home had been foreclosed in March of this year. Neighbors said a man and woman moved in just a few days ago.
A longtime resident said the neighborhood has become increasingly unstable due to numerous foreclosures.
"You know, it's tragic. That couple that was in that house were not there but days I'm sure they knew very few people right next to them. And here we have a tragedy. It is heartbreaking," said neighbor Lee Ormiston.
"I don't think it's something to alarm the neighborhood about that. (I don't think) it's someone running around doing this randomly to people. Something went on in the residence and that's what we're trying to figure out," said Minneapolis Police spokesman Sergeant Jesse Garcia.
No suspects were in custody Saturday night. Police said investigators are following a few leads and will continue working on the case.
