Bodybuilder Indicted In Airport Scuffle

Minneapolis (WCCO) ― A professional body builder was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday for allegedly assaulting an officer at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport last month, the U.S. Attorney's office said.

Aaron E. James, 29, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was indicted for assault resulting in serious bodily injury in connection with an incident on a Northwest Airlines flight, according to the office of U.S. Attorney Thomas B. Heffelfinger.

James was a passenger on an NWA flight from Minneapolis to Winnipeg. As the flight taxied away from the gate, James stood up and began yelling at a flight attendant, according to a criminal complaint.

The captain ordered the plane turned around. When the plane arrived back at the gate, officers boarded the plane to remove James and asked him to collect his personal belongings.

Prosecutors said James then squared off with an officer and head-butted him. Officers then used a Taser gun on James and removed him from the plane.

The officer required 12 stitches for a cut to the head and had a chipped tooth from the incident.

If convicted, James faces a maximum potential penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
