Police: Man Hits Friend With Bat, Friend Dies
LAKEVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) ―
An altercation at a Lakeville townhome left one dead early Sunday morning, according to Lakeville Police.
The fight happened at Hampshire Circle. Police responded to the scene at about 6 a.m.
When they arrived, they found 33-year-old Joshua Jay Skare of Apple Valley, Minn. unresponsive and exhibited "obvious signs of blunt force injuries."
Charlie Otto Reynolds, 31, told officers the two were long-time friends, and said he had hit the victim with a bat. Reynolds was arrested by officers on the scene.
"Pretty shocking, that's an every day normal family as far as we knew," said neighbor Jeni Reynolds.
"I've brought my child down to the park before and he's had his child down there, and real nice guy. We'd talk about sports," said neighbor Denny George.
Crews attempted to perform CPR on Skare, but he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.
Lakeville Police are investigating the incident as a homicide along with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Reynolds is being held on probable cause second degree murder at the Dakota County Jail.
