A man has been sentenced to 36 months in prison in connection to a daytime home invasion robbery in Lake Elmo where a man was pistol whipped and doused with gasoline.
Richard Paul Delrio, 46, was given credit for 363 days already served, required to pay the victims $4,117 in restitution and must submit a DNA sample to the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
According to Washington County authorities, a 911 call was placed at
9:22 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2008 about a home invasion on the 200 block of Lake Elmo Avenue. No one was seriously hurt in the incident, which happened in a semi-secluded duplex unit in a cornfield.
The charges say two masked men barged into the duplex, yelled "Where's the dope?" and "Gimme the money!" and hit a 42-year-old man who lived there until blood flowed down his back.
One of the intruders then sprayed the man and his live-in girlfriend with gasoline while the man's daughter called 911 from a room across the hall.
Later that day, police stopped a car meeting a victim's description and found a handgun, a purse apparently taken from the duplex and a strong odor of gasoline coming from one of the men.
