Police: Kidnapped Minneapolis Girl Found Safe

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― A 15-year-old girl who was abducted after her father was beaten was found safely Friday morning, Minneapolis Police said.

Around 8:30 a.m., someone spotted Alison Traefald and her former boyfriend, Tony McGee, on a street corner in Northeast Minneapolis and called police.

When officers arrived, they were able to get Traefald to safety, but McGee took off running. Police are canvassing the neighborhood with canines, but have not yet located McGee.

Police said McGee barged into his ex-girlfriend's Northeast Minneapolis home Thursday morning, beat up her father and abducted the girl.

"He proceeds to punch the father out, or hit him or something, whatever. He knocked the father out in his own yard, and he was last seen dragging the 15-year-old ex-girlfriend away from that house, down the driveway," said Sgt. Jesse Garcia with the Minneapolis Police Department.

McGee has been charged twice in Minnesota with domestic abuse in the last year. Traefald took out a restraining order against him just a couple weeks ago, but the pieces of paper didn't stop McGee form kidnapping her, Minneapolis Police said.

Traefald's father was in serious condition at Hennepin County Medical Center Thursday night.

Minneapolis Police did not issue an Amber Alert in this case, because no vehicle was initially involved.
