Opening Statements Set In Bus Crash Trial

MARSHALL, Minn. (AP) ― Opening arguments are set to get under way in the trial of a Guatemalan woman accused of causing a fatal school bus crash near Cottonwood.

Jury selection was completed Wednesday in the trial of 24-year-old Olga Marina Franco Del Cid of Minneota. She faces four counts of criminal vehicular homicide in the February 19th crash that killed four students from Lakeview School.

The Lyon County case has been moved to Kandiyohi County under a change of venue.

Franco's lawyer plans to argue that the woman's boyfriend was driving the van that struck the school bus carrying the students, then fled the scene.
