Final Farewell For Former MPD Officer

RICHFIELD, Minn. (WCCO) ― Dozens of officers joined friends and family to say a final farewell to David Loeffler. Loeffler is a former Minneapolis police officer who died last week at the age of 36.

Twelve years ago, Loeffler lost a leg after being hit by a drunk driver when he stopped to help a drunken pedestrian in North Minneapolis.

Loeffler continued a career in public service, despite being in frequent pain from his accident. He earned a law degree, worked in the Minnesota Attorney General's Office and most recently was a prosecutor in Aitkin, Minn.

A Minneapolis Police Department Honor Guard participated in the funeral at a church in Richfield.
