Opening Statements Expected In Craigslist Murder

SHAKOPEE, Minn. (AP) ― Opening statements are expected Monday in the murder trial of a young man accused of using the Internet want ads site Craigslist to lure his victim.

Michael John Anderson, 20, is charged with first-degree murder. He is accused of placing an ad for a nanny on the site.

Katherine Ann Olson answered the ad and, on Oct. 25, 2007, was shot in the back. She was found in the trunk of her car the following day.

Anderson's attorney claims his client has a developmental disability -- Asperger's syndrome -- and thus can't be held responsible for his actions.

A judge ruled that argument insufficient.

The jury is expected to be seated Monday morning, with opening statements scheduled to begin in the afternoon.
