Mpls. Man Still Critical After Hit At Bus Stop

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― A Minneapolis man remained in critical condition on Monday afternoon after a car struck him as he waited at a bus stop. The driver was arrested.

Forty-eight-year-old Christopher Iverson was struck at about 12:10 a.m. Sunday on Lake Street East in south Minneapolis.

Iverson was hit so hard by the car that it knocked him out of his shoes. A spokeswoman says he was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center where he remained Monday afternoon.

Police say the 49-year-old Minneapolis woman who was driving the car showed signs of being intoxicated. She was arrested on suspicion of criminal vehicular injury and is being held in the Hennepin County jail.

The woman police arrested in the crash was 49-year-old Kirsten Driscoll of Minneapolis. She may be charged with criminal vehicular injury.

Claudette Mastro, Iverson's mother, said her son moved in with her shortly after her husband died. And, as he did every night, she said he cooked her Saturday dinner before he stepped out.
