Woman Accused Of Drugging, Locking Child In Closet

COLUMBUS, Wis. (AP) ― Prosecutors have charged a Columbus woman who allegedly tied up her 5-year-old daughter and locked her in a closet.

Thirty-year-old Heidi L. Duesing-Christensen faces one count of child enticement, one count of physical abuse of a child, one count of child neglect, one count of second-degree reckless endangerment and one count of bail jumping. All the charges are felonies.

Police say Duesing-Christensen also hit the girl and locked her in a bedroom all day without food or use of a bathroom. She's also accused of giving the girl an overdose of the cold and allergy medicine Benadryl to try to get her to sleep.

Her attorney, listed in court records as Liz Mitchell, didn't immediately return a message Tuesday.
