There are no official ceremonies in St. Cloud on Thursday to mark the 10th anniversary of a huge natural gas explosion that killed four people.
Instead, the city is blocking off the northwest corner of Ninth Avenue and First Street North for anyone who wants to leave memorials for those who died.
Stearns County Administrator George Rindelaub says the area will remain blocked off for two weeks.
Ten years ago Thursday, a noontime explosion destroyed buildings and left emergency crews scrambling through bricks and debris looking for survivors. Now, that spot is a county parking lot.
The explosion happened when a crew installing a cable anchor pole outside a restaurant accidentally hit a high-pressure gas line. Leaking gas built up inside Bellantti's Pizza & Deli and somehow ignited.
