3 Bodies Found Around Campfire In Eastern Minn.

SHAMROCK TOWNSHIP, Minn. (AP) ― Aitkin County authorities say the bodies of two men and a woman have been found near a fire pit in Shamrock Township.

Sheriff's deputies say all three suffered gunshot wounds and were dead at the scene. Sheriff Scott Turner says a handgun was found nearby.

Authorities responded to a 911 call Saturday morning about 1:40 a.m. reporting that two people had been shot. Responding deputies found the bodies of the three people, who knew each other.

Turner says the 911 caller was someone from the neighborhood who presumably heard shots fired, but isn't a suspect.

The sheriff says it's unclear who the shooter was and what the motive was. He says investigators aren't looking for a suspect at large, but he wouldn't say whether the incident was a murder-suicide.
