Teacher Accused Of Sex With Student Arrested Again

MANKATO, Minn. (WCCO) ― Mankato Police say a teacher suspended from Sleepy Eye High School has been arrested again, this time for shoplifting and running from police.

Police say 47-year-old Calvin Clifford Collum II of New Ulm fled from police at speeds of up to 70 mph after shoplifting at a mall sporting goods store Monday. He was arrested when he stopped on his own. They think he stole three shirts.

Police want Collum to be charged with running from police and theft.

In March Collum was charged with having sex with a 16-year-old girl who was his student, according to police. Court documents say the two sent text messages to each other during class and picked names for their future children.
