Blaine Officer Sideswiped, Chase Ensues

BLAINE, Minn. (AP) ― A Blaine, Minn. police officer is being treated for minor injuries after his squad car was sideswiped.

Police say the officer's marked squad car was stopped at a red light on Sunday evening when it was sideswiped by another car that had left the scene of an accident.

The suspect's vehicle was chased until it was forced to stop in Ham Lake. The 44-year-old Isanti man who was driving the car was arrested and booked into the Anoka County Adult Detention Center.

Three people injured in the accident on Interstate 35W were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. Their conditions are not known.

The Blaine officer who was sideswiped was treated at a hospital.
