73-Year-Old Woman Assaulted, Robbed At Church

WILLMAR, Minn. (WCCO) ― A woman is recovering from injuries she sustained after being robbed at the Crow River Church in Kandiyohi County.

Police said a 73-year-old woman was cleaning the church when she was attacked and robbed around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday.

She was taken to Paynesville Hospital for her injuries.

The victim gave police a description of the attacker and his vehicle. Around 5:40 p.m., police of Cosmos, Minn. located a vehicle that matched the description. The man was later stopped for a traffic violation and upon investigation, was placed in custody on the assault charges.

The suspect is a 61-year-old man from the Bemidji area and is currently in Kandiyohi County Jail.
