Armed Suspect Shot By Minneapolis Police

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― An armed suspect was shot and wounded in a confrontation with Minneapolis Police officers early Sunday morning, according to police.

The incident began at about 3:30 a.m. on Park Avenue South and East 19th Street.

Officers arrived following a 911 call of shots being fired in the area.

Once there, they stopped two suspects. One surrendered to officers without incident, but the other took off.

Police said the second suspect was armed and began firing at officers near East 14th Street.

None of the suspect's shots hit any officers. An officer managed to hit the suspect, who sustained a non-life threatening injury and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Neither of the two suspects have been identified by authorities. Police said they are currently seeking a third suspect.

Some of the officers at the scene will be placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
