A couple was recently robbed at a local Laundromat in Minneapolis. It was just one of several armed robberies to hit the city in recent weeks.

Chong Vang and her husband Chao Lor were on their way home after leaving a Laundromat at 41st and Lyndale Avenue North in Minneapolis early Monday evening when they were confronted by two robbers, one armed with a gun.
"The one that came first came to my side of the door and the other pointed a gun at my husband," Vang said. The man with the gun took Vang's husband into an alley nearby.
"When the guy pointed a gun at me all I had on my mind was just like take anything you want. Don't do anything to me or hurt my wife," Lor said.
What happened to this young couple has been happening all over the city recently. Police report more than 50 robberies in just the past week, 22 over the last weekend.
Police think the warm November temperatures may be a factor in the rash of street crimes because more people are out and about.
In most cases, the victims were alone and often out at night.
Lt. Mike Fossum heads the Minneapolis police robbery unit and said it is important to try to go out with other people when walking at night. He also said victims should try to get a good description of the robber and typically, it's best not to fight back.
Vang and Lor hope police catch their robber soon. In the meantime, they plan to spend more time at home with their 3-year-old daughter and buy a washing machine to reduce their risk of being robbed again on the streets at gunpoint.
