Suspect In Appleton Murder Out On Bail

BENSON, Minn. (AP) ― A former Appleton man and corrections officer accused of killing his wife has been released on bail.

Thirty-four-year-old Andrew Gordon Lemcke appeared Friday in Swift County District Court to face an indictment on first-degree, premeditated murder and second-degree, intentional murder. He's accused in the 2004 shooting death of his wife, Nichole Riley-Lemcke.

Lemcke's attorney says his family posted $10,000 bail. He's not allowed to leave the state without the court's approval.

Lemcke has been working for the past two years as a corrections officer with Corrections Corporation of America in Florence, Ariz.

Lemcke maintains his wife's death was an accident.
