Wadena Man Charged With 15th DWI Offense In Minn.

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) ― A man with at least 14 drunken-driving convictions on his record has been charged for a second time with felony driving while intoxicated.

Daniel Allen Bettcher, 56, of Wadena, whose aliases include Danny Lee Bettcher and Daniel Boettcher, is accused of driving a motorcycle while drunk in New York Mills on Friday night.

Bettcher was sentenced in January 2004 to 4 1/2 years in prison for his first felony DWI conviction. He was paroled in October 2006. He went back to prison in June 2007 for violating conditions of his release.

During his first appearance in Otter Tail County District Court on Monday, prosecutor Curt Mortenson told the court Bettcher had 14 drunken driving convictions in Minnesota, but Mortenson said he believed Bettcher had even more under aliases in other states.
