NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. THE CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
1. How to Enter the Contest:
(a) The "Weather Kid of the Week" contest beginning on Monday, February 9th, 2009 and ending on Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 at 12:01 p.m. CT.
(b) To participate in the contest, mail your child's weather drawing depicting a weather scene to: "Weather Kid of the Week Contest", c/o WCCO-TV, PO Box 50066, Minneapolis, MN 55405-0066. Entries must include: weather drawing (on paper measuring no larger than 8.5" x 11"), child's name and age, name of parent/guardian and their parent/guardian's complete mailing address and daytime phone number. Drawing must be the original work of the child submitting the drawing. All entries must be received by 12:01 p.m. CT on Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 in order to be considered eligible.
(c) One entry per person for the duration of the contest. Only one drawing per envelope. Incomplete or illegible entries will not be accepted. Eligible entrants that have submitted previously will be automatically entered into future drawings. Previous entrants are ineligible to submit a new entry.
(d) Contest sponsors are not responsible for late, lost, stolen, misdirected, incomplete, misaddressed, postage due or illegible entries. If the Contest is terminated due to tampering or technical difficulties prior to its expiration date, notice will be posted at WWW.WCCO.COM. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that tampers with the operation of the Contest or violates the Official Rules of the Contest.
(e) Broadcasts are subject to preemptions and scheduling changes. If such changes occur they will be posted on the WCCO-TV website.
(f) Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received.
Eligibility Restrictions:
(a) The contest is open to legal residents of the United States who are between the ages of five (5) and twelve (12) (with parent/guardian consent) and reside in the WCCO-TV viewing area. Employees of WCCO-TV, CBS Corporation, Como Town, Lancer Hospitality, other television and radio stations in the Minneapolis – St. Paul market, and their affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising agencies and their immediate family members or persons living in the same household are ineligible to participate or win.
(b) Viewers are eligible to win a WCCO-TV contest only once every sixty days. Only one winner per household is permitted in any contest. Viewers are eligible to win a prize valued at $600.00 or more only once every six months.
(c) All entries become the sole property of Station and will not be returned. By entering, entrants agree to abide by these rules, and warrant and represent that their entry is their original work.
(d) In the event that there are not enough viewer drawings submitted for this contest, stock drawings may air during the Weather Kid of the Week segment and may be included in the Weather Kid of the Week slide show on WCCO.COM. These stock drawings are not eligible to win any prizes.
Prizes:
(a) A maximum of eighteen (18) weekly qualifying winners will be randomly chosen and their drawing may be featured in the Weather Kid of the Week segment during one of the WCCO 6A – 7A newscasts on a pre-determined Friday, May 2009, June 2009, July 2009, August 2009 (pending breaking news or weather), as well as may be featured on the Weather Kid of the Week slide show on WCCO.COM. Plus, each weekly qualifying winner will receive two (2) Unlimited Ride Wristbands to Como Town in St. Paul, MN. Not good with any offer or discount. Valid during the 2009 season only (May 2, 2009 – September 27, 2009). Approximate prize value: $33.90
(b) Additionally, the weekly qualifying winners will be entered into a drawing to win their respective month's monthly prize. Monthly prize includes: the opportunity to come to the WCCO-TV studios for a tour, meet a WCCO-TV meteorologist, and 'help' in the weather station (subject to breaking news or weather). These segments are scheduled to occur between 6A – 7A on the following dates: Friday, June 12, 2009 (May 2009 winner); Friday, July 10, 2009 (June 2009 winner); Friday, August 14, 2009 (July 2009 winner); and Friday, September 18, 2009 (August 2009 winner). Parent/guardian must accompany the winner. If not able to attend on the assigned date/time, winner forfeits this portion of the prize. WCCO-TV reserves the right to change these dates at any time and for any reason. Additionally, each monthly grand prize winner will receive one (1) plush Como Town Bear. Approximate prize value: $35
(c) All prizes or prize certificates may be picked up at WCCO-TV (90 South 11th Street, Minneapolis). Any prize or prize certificate not claimed within ten (10) days of notification will be forfeited by the winner. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, it will be with the prior written consent of the winner and therefore, winner assumes the risk of its arrival. WCCO-TV is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate. Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded.
(d) Contest prizes are not transferable. Prizes may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash. Station reserves the right to substitute prize of comparable value.
4. Selection of Winner:
(a) Decisions of contest sponsors with respect to the contest are final.
(b) All entries received by drawing dates will be eligible to win in any upcoming drawings. Each Wednesday (May 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th; June 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th; July 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th; August 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th; September 2nd) during the contest period, one (1) weekly winner will be randomly selected from all eligible entries and their drawing may be featured on the WCCO 6A – 7A newscast during the Weather Kid of the Week segment on the next Friday (May 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th; June 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th; July 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st; August 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th; September 3rd) in the contest period as well as may be featured on the Weather Kid of the Week slide show on WCCO.COM (entry deadline: each Wednesday during the contest period at 12:01 p.m. CT) (maximum:18 winners).
(c) One (1) monthly grand prize winner will be randomly selected from that month's respective weekly qualifying winners. A total of four (4) monthly grand prize winners will be selected during the contest period. The monthly winner will be randomly selected on or about the Thursday, a week prior to the monthly appearance from the qualifying month's weekly winners. These segments are scheduled to occur between 6A – 7A on the following dates: Friday, June 12, 2009 (May 2009 winner); Friday, July 10, 2009 (June 2009 winner); Friday, August 14, 2009 (July 2009 winner); and Friday, September 18, 2009 (August 2009 winner). Station reserves the right to cancel these events, even after scheduled group has arrived, due to breaking news or weather. Parent/guardian must accompany the winner. If not able to attend on the assigned date/time, winner forfeits this portion of the prize. WCCO-TV reserves the right to change these dates at any time and for any reason.
(d) Weekly winners will be notified by phone and/or mail on or about three days prior to on-air announcement. Monthly winners will be notified by phone and/or mail.
5. Conditions:
(a) Payment of all federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner and winners may receive an IRS Form 1099 or equivalent from Station.
(b) By participating in the contest, the winners agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest, and to sign a publicity release, affidavit of eligibility and release of liability prior to acceptance of the prize. If a prizewinner is a minor, prize may be awarded to the minor's parent or legal guardian and that winner's travel companion must be his/her parent or legal guardian. Unless a member of winner's immediate family, travel companion must be 18 years of age or older. By accepting the prize, each winner grants to Station the right to use the winner's name, voice, picture and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and publicity in any and all media now known or hereafter invented, without further permission or additional compensation (except where prohibited by law). All expenses on receipt and use of prize are the sole responsibility of winner. Winners, by acceptance of their prizes, agree to release Station, CBS Corporation, their respective parents and subsidiaries, and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity.
6. Contest sponsors reserve the right to make changes in the rules of the contest which will become effective upon announcement.
7. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize.
8. Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant's disqualification.
