Plainview Products Recall Now Involves Malt-O-Meal

Malt-O-Meal said it is recalling "Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal" in cartons and in packets sold in "Variety" cartons, with carton date codes between June 30, 2009 and Oct. 28, 2009.

The Minneapolis-based Malt-O-Meal Co. is voluntarily recalling certain oatmeal products that contain instant non-fat dry milk suspected of being contaminated with salmonella bacteria.
The instant non-fat dry milk came from Plainview Milk Products Cooperative of Plainview, Minn. The Food and Drug Administration said in late June that Plainview was recalling that and other products made over the past two years due to the possible contamination.
Malt-O-Meal said it is recalling "Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal" in cartons and in packets sold in "Variety" cartons, with best-if-used-by dates between June 30, 2009 and Oct. 28, 2010.
The products have been distributed nationally under a variety of brands in cartons of 6 to 15 packets. Brands include Cub Foods, Diamond Crystal, Fastco, Flavorite, Foodland, Good 'n Hearty, Hearty Traditions, Hy-Top, IGA, Mom's Best Natural, Megaroons, Millville, Our Family, Richfood, Shop 'n Save and Smart Menu.
