Bus Fares To Increase By Fall

Metro Transit is enjoying its highest number of riders in nearly 25 years, but the group said high gas prices are hurting its bottom line.

cost to hop aboard a bus could cost you an extra quarter this fall.
Wednesday
night the Met Council voted to move ahead with plans to hike prices later this
year.

Car
sales are down, so it's also missing out on the sales tax set aside for mass
transit.
Fares
would go up on buses and trains this October. It would be Metro Transit's first
price increase in three years.
