MN Lawmakers Consider Training Drivers To Save Gas

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) ― Driving instructors are coming to the Capitol Tuesday to teach drivers how to squeeze more miles out of every gallon of gas.

Two Minneapolis Democrats say they are considering legislation to require such instruction in Minnesota drivers' education programs.

Rep. Frank Hornstein and Sen. Scott Dibble are bringing instructors from Ford Motor Co. who specialize in driving for maximum fuel efficiency.

It's called "ecodriving."

They will highlight simple steps like slower starts and coasting to red lights to save gas and reduce carbon emissions.
