City officials in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, say they're not getting complaints this summer about odor from the American Crystal Sugar beet plant.
City Council President Dick Grassel says it's the best year he can remember.
Crystal spokeswoman Michele Berg says a cool spring kept beets from thawing and rotting as quickly. She also says the cooperative spent $7 million on equipment to address the odor, which results from bacteria growing in sugar-saturated wastewater.
