A federal judge has refused to throw out part of a lawsuit accusing Northwest Airlines of discriminating against physically disabled passengers at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
U.S. District Judge George Steeh in Detroit ruled Tuesday that five plaintiffs can proceed with their lawsuit alleging Eagan, Minn.-based Northwest Airlines Corp. of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The lawsuit filed earlier this year says Metro Airport and Northwest personnel dropped disabled passengers to the floor, failed to provide boarding assistance and damaged wheelchairs. The Wayne County Airport Authority, which runs Metro, has been dropped as a defendant.
A request for comment from Northwest was forwarded to airline spokesman Vin Parker.
