CFO: Delta Has 'Great Standalone Plan' Without NWA

SEATTLE (AP) ― A Delta Air Lines executive says the carrier is NOT committed to finding a replacement deal if consolidation talks with Northwest Airlines fall apart.

Delta Chief Financial Officer Ed Bastian spoke in Seattle today as Delta took delivery of a new Boeing 777. It's Delta's first new plane since 2002.

Bastian would not say if Delta will walk away from talks if pilots from the two airlines stay deadlocked on seniority issues. He also did not say how long the company will give the pilots to find a solution.

Bastian also says Delta expects solid growth this year and that it has a -- quote -- "great standalone plan."
