XM, Sirius Fall After FCC Raises Emissions Issue

NEW YORK (AP) ― Word from XM Satellite Radio that it's stopped making and shipping radios with FM transmitters sent the company's shares skidding to a new 52-week low Thursday today.

The decision by XM came after the FCC told the company that the radios violate emission standards because the signal is too strong.

Shares of XM rival Sirius Satellite Radio also fell after it, too, said some of its FM radio models are out of compliance.

XM says it's working to bring its radios into compliance with the FCC regs, while Sirius says it's corrected the problems.
