Klobuchar Renews Call For NTSB Hearing On Bridge

WASHINGTON (AP) ― Senator Amy Klobuchar is renewing her call for a public hearing on the Minneapolis bridge collapse.

Klobuchar said pictures that surfaced over the weekend showing two slightly bent gusset plates are more reason than ever that such a hearing should be held. The pictures were taken four years before the bridge collapsed, and too-thin gusset plates have been cited as a factor.

The National Transportation Safety Board has said it doesn't intend to hold a public hearing. An NTSB spokesman didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
