Pawlenty Says Minn. Is Addressing Bridge Safety

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― A year after the Minneapolis bridge collapse, Governor Tim Pawlenty says the state is addressing its problem bridges.

In an interview on WCCO radio, Pawlenty says the state transportation department has carried out his order to inspect all bridges.

And he noted that some have been closed or moved up the priority list for repairs -- like the DeSoto bridge in St. Cloud and the Mississippi River bridge at Winona.

The state plans two ceremonies today to mark the collapse. Pawlenty says it's a day for Minnesotans to think about the victims and their families.
