It's been nearly two years since the Interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis collapsed, but some of the wreckage is still sitting on the riverbanks.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation had wanted to move the wreckage, but with legal protection.
Some of the victims' relatives and survivors who have pending lawsuits want the bridge girders preserved in place.
A court ruled MnDOT could move the bridge parts but not with legal immunity.
Meanwhile, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has denied MnDOT an extension on its permit to keep the wreckage on 7 acres of Bohemian Flats parkland next to the river.
MnDOT officials say they are discussing options for dealing with storage of the bridge parts.

The original I-35W bridge over the Mississippi River opened in November 1967 and was 1,907 feet in length. The replacement bridge opened in September 2008 and measures 1,216 feet in length.
