Handmade Valentines
(WCCO)
Remember how much fun it was to exchange Valentine's Day cards with classmates in elementary school? Remember decorating a shoebox with a slit in the top to store our valentines? Ah, the memories of being a child. It can remind us of the little things in life that brought us joy.
I like to reflect back on those simpler moments in life. Surprisingly, I still have many of the valentines that were dropped into my box as a grade-schooler. One of my favorite valentines came from a good friend of mine who moved away.
The valentine was handmade on an index card using stickers for decoration. I can still see the pencil outline of where she practiced the letters first before committing it to ink. It makes me smile. It stands out amongst the crowd. It gets me thinking about the significance of handmade. It may require a bit more work, but it is the effort that is meaningful.
This Valentine's Day consider making cards yourself. Hand them out to friends and family. Remind them of the simpler moments in life. Attach a handmade treat or invite them over to bake with you. The memories will last a lifetime.
