Photojournalists

Peter Molenda

Peter has been a photojournalist with WCCO-TV for more than 35 years, joining the station in 1971.

From 1980 to 1991, Peter worked with the Public Affairs Department, which produced the "Moore Report" and I-TEAM pieces.  Peter was one of the original members of the I-TEAM, along with Don Shelby, Larry Schmidt, Al Austin and John Lindsay.

Peter is very proud of the work that came out of that department, and highlights two pieces that he thought exemplified that department's work.  One was a piece about the sexual abuse of children and another about the case of State of Texas vs. Steven Lynn Fossum, where an innocent man was convicted of rape.

Peter now works as a general assignment photojournalist for WCCO-TV.

Peter grew up in the Milwaukee, Wis. area and attended Marquette University before spending three years serving his country.  During those years, he was a motion picture photographer in Southeast Asia.

When Peter returned home, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and also worked for WISN-TV, Channel 12 in Milwaukee while he attended school.

After school, he got a job offer and moved to Minneapolis with his family.  Shortly after moving here, his youngest son, Nathan, was born.  Nathan now also works for WCCO-TV.

Peter's other sons, Kevin and Jason, live in Kentucky and California, respectively.

When he's not capturing the latest news for WCCO-TV, he can be found cycling, reading or cheering on the Minnesota Twins.

For the past 10 years, Peter has also been very involved with St. Stephen's parish community and shelter in South Minneapolis.
