Just The Facts

• What year did you join WCCO? 1970 (as a senior year in high school)
• What is your favorite thing about WCCO? The every day chatter and grief we give each other in the newsroom, which keeps everyone sane.
• What/who's on your iPod? Everything from classic Earth Wind and Fire, Sinatra, Springsteen, to movie soundtracks.
• Do you embrace technology or run away from it? I reluctantly embrace technology to a point.
• Do you text message? Do you know how? Yes, I text message my son in college a lot.
• What do you watch on TV, if anything? My favorite TV shows are Curb Your Enthusiasm, Rescue Me, and the Office. I also catch lots of classic movies and of course plenty of sports.
• What is the best thing you have ever read? My favorite all time book is Tuesdays with Morrie.
• What or who was your last Google? My last google was Halle Berry (what else would you expect me to say).
• Do you MySpace? No, I don't My Space.
• What are you passionate about? I'm passionate about seeing my two kids pursue their dreams and the terrific charity orginizations I've been blessed to work with.
• Who's your role model? Bud Grant, he taught me not to worry about things we don't have control over and not to make a decision before I have to.
• What scares you? Losing my vitality scares me.
• What's the biggest risk you've taken? Biggest risk I've taken was getting into the restaurant business back in 1991.
• What's the word that best describes WCCO? Adrenalin
• If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be? Why? I would love to walk in Tiger Woods' shoes for a day -- preferably on the final day of the Masters with a two stroke lead coming up the 18th fairway.
• What does "Know More" mean to you? "Know More" means pursuing knowledge every day of your life.
• Favorite word? Beautiful
• Least favorite word? Can't
• Sound or noise you love? Waves crashing outside my hotel room somewhere warm.
• Sound or noise you hate? Grinding teeth
• What profession would you never want to attempt? I'd never want to try to be a math teacher.

• What is your least favorite movie? The Sound of Music (sorry)
• What is your favorite story you've covered? 1980 Winter Olympics (gold medal hockey team)

• Why are you a journalist? I'm a journalist because I am constantly challenged by the ever changing world we live in.
