Wearing no makeup and sweatpants to work is how Liz Collin started her career in broadcasting at a radio station in Worthington, Minn. at the age of 15. She had the important job of running commercial breaks in Twins and Vikings games on the radio.

After high school, Liz decided to trade the Minnesota winters for the Florida sunshine and moved 2,000 miles away to go to college. Her first job in television involved running robotic cameras at WTVJ-TV in Miami.

After reporting and anchoring stints at KDLT-TV in Sioux Falls, S.D., KWCH-TV in Wichita, Kan. and WHP-TV in Harrisburg, Pa., Liz said it's great to be back home at a station she's always admired.

Liz has investigated several stories that have lead to new policies and received regional and national journalism awards. Liz won a regional Edward R. Murrow award from the Radio Television News Directors Association and a D. Tennant Bryan Award. She was also awarded first place and special citation from the Education Writers Association. Her work has also been recognized by the Associated Press and The Kansas City Press Club.

Liz said the most rewarding stories are those that have made a difference. In Kansas, new leadership was brought into a military school, after it was discovered boys were allowed to beat up younger cadets. A veteran's hospital made changes once records showed nurses weren't responding to alarms at patients' bedsides. Most recently, the child welfare system in Pennsylvania introduced new policies after Liz's reports on the lack of proof behind child abuse allegations.

Liz's husband is from Philadelphia and she doesn't think she'll have any luck getting him to cheer for the Twins or Vikes, but she said she'll do her best. Liz likes to spend time traveling, going to the gym and reading. She also enjoys chasing after her hyper Westie, Andy.
