John Lauritsen
John Lauritsen's interests in a variety of topics lead him to a career in journalism.
A native of Montevideo, Minn. John joined the WCCO-TV team in July of 2007. His western Minnesota roots have helped him develop an appreciation for greater Minnesota.
"I love where I grew up," he said. "The Twin Cities is a great place to live and work, but nothing beats stepping outside and being able to see for miles around you."
John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications at St. Cloud State University.
His reporting career began at KSAX-TV in Alexandria, Minn. He has also worked at KWWL-TV in Waterloo, Iowa and Channel 12 News in Brooklyn Park, Minn. He is honored to be able to tell other people's stories.
"When you tell a story you have to let the person you are talking with know that you respect them, and let them tell their tale," John said. "They deserve that. I learned long ago that being fair and balanced is the key to developing good relations and being successful in this business."
John plays in a number of volleyball leagues and is an avid tennis player. He also enjoys heading to the gym and reading. He loves the Minneapolis market and looks forward to reporting in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.
