Chris Cruz
Born and raised in the Bayou State of Louisiana, Chris Cruz attended Bossier Parish Community College, where he received his degree in television and film production.
While in college, Chris worked at KTAL-TV in Shreveport, La. in the news production department. After graduating, Chris was given the opportunity to work as a photojournalist, a position he quickly fell in love with.
He eventually worked as a photographer for KTBS 3 in Shreveport before heading to Fort Meyers, Fla., where he worked for WBBH/WZVN (the two stations share a newsroom). There he attended seminars at Poynter Institute in Tampa, Fla. He also enrolled in the National Press Photographers Association's "Cutting Edge" editing seminar.
Having a desire to test out the cold weather of Minnesota, Chris joined WCCO-TV in April 2006.
"I've only seen snow three times in my life," he said. "I figured this would be the place to see it."
When not capturing news as a photojournalist, Chris enjoys spinning music as a DJ, eating and camping during the summer.
Here are a few of Chris's favorite stories he helped create:
