Carly Danek
Carly Danek loves the fact she doesn't have a desk. She describes her car as her "office" and loves that when she comes to work, she has no idea where she will end up -- anywhere from the scene of a grassfire, an armed robbery, a science fair to the state Capitol.
Carly was born in Minneapolis and grew up in Lakeville where she graduated from high school. She went to the University of Minnesota where she graduated from with a degree in journalism.
While at the 'U', Carly played the mellophone in the marching band. She loved to travel for bowl games and said one of her favorite trips was with the pep band for the women's basketball team when the team went to the Final Four in New Orleans, La.
Also while at the 'U', Carly interned for WCCO-TV. She said she doesn't know how she got into the news business. She went to the 'U' with the intention of becoming a veterinarian, but changed her mind somewhere along the line.
After graduating, Carly worked for television stations in Eugene, Ore. and Tulsa, Okla. She jokes that instead of completing the trifecta of working in "O" states, she decided to skip Ohio and come back to Minnesota.
When not chasing the latest news story, Carly can be found running or hiking. She also enjoys still photography.
